Archives Week fosters our identity and pride in our past with displays and special events. It elevates the role of our province's archival institutions as keepers of authentic evidence of our past, keeping archives on our map!
This year's Northern Saskatchewan Archives Open House will be : Wednesday 7 February, 2018, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Open House will include the following displays and speakers:
John Finch, Renowned Aircraft Rescuer: Air engineer in northern Saskatchewan in the 1950s and 60s, he became well-known for recovering downed aircraft from all kinds of situations.
Lois Dalby: 60 Years of Northern Art and Photography: Her whimsical 1970s drawings of the seasonal life of the Woodland Cree and their surprise and alarm at first seeing explorers and voyageurs.
Rev. Harry Hives: La Ronge Anglican Minister, 1929-38: He took hundreds of amazing photographs of life in La Ronge and Stanley Mission over 80 years ago.
1928 fiom "Freighting in Northern Canada"
James Winkel, Saskatchewan Researcher and Writer, at 5.15 p.m. tells the story of Saskatchewan Government Airways (SGA), which served the North for nearly 20 years.
